Seven minutes away from campus right off of 35th and Grand Avenue you’ll find a small fueling area known as the USC Gas Station.
As a student, I too have passed by this station for months having no idea what is was. The gas station is right next to the grand parking structure, making it easy to miss.
This station has been around for years yet not many students know about it.
Angela Gomez: I had no idea. I feel like USC as a whole should do a lot more for their commuter students just because it’s so heavily like an on campus resident school.”
The best part is, students can fill their tanks for 20 cents less than nearby stations like Chevron and Arco. Both of them charge nearly five dollars per gallon.
Victoria Quon-Chow: I fuel up like once a week. I spend about 40 a week on gas. it’s definitely a struggle.
And the benefits don’t stop there, complimentary air and water service is provided for all students. They also have bio-diesel fuel for cars that accept it.
Student, Alec Sahakian wish he knew about the gas station before he traded in his car.
Alec Sahakian: I probably would’ve used it if I still had a gas car and they would’ve made money off of me.
Most students live on or off campus and get to school by walking or biking, but for students who commute to and from school, every cent counts.
