The USC’s men’s basketball team’s Sunday night matchup against the Stanford Cardinal has been postponed due to a positive COVID-19 test, USC Athletics announced.

The statement, sent three hours before tip-off, did not disclose who within the basketball program tested positive for the virus. However, the individual was “identified prior to any contact with anyone expected to participate in tonight’s game,” and is currently in isolation.

The Pac-12 Conference has been alerted, and USC Student Health and the USC Athletic Medicine staff will collaborate in conducting contact tracing. More information on the status of the Trojans’ two games this week, versus San Francisco on Dec. 16 and at Oregon State on Dec. 20, will be provided at a later date.

As far as the rescheduling of today’s game goes, the Pac-12 will take that up with both USC and Stanford.

“The Pac-12 will work with both programs to attempt to find a mutually agreeable date to reschedule the contest,” USC Athletics said in its press release.

In the meantime, the Trojans will focus their efforts on ensuring that the team is healthy, safe and COVID-19 free.
