Today, Dodger fans lined up for hours after Dodger stadium reopened their stores to sell World Series merchandise. T-shirts, posters, balls… you name it… people were buying it.
USC Sophomore Caroline Placey was smart. She bought her merch just before game six.
I bought a 2020 Los Angeles Dodgers World Series shirt from a street vendor. And I’m very happy with my purchase. It was only fifteen dollars. And it’s cool to to say that, like, I have a shirt that I wore when they won the World Series.
That’s right. She and her friends bought tickets to game six of the World Series as soon as they went on sale. They sat on the roof and in the back of a friend’s jeep and watched the game on 60-foot screens with the sound blaring on the radio.
And that atmosphere is pretty insane. I mean, you can tell, like, people are on their Dodgers gear, they have flags, they’re holding up flags in their car. And then there’s a huge screen with lights double sided. There is definitely like a good chunk of a thousand or more people there.
But Placey wasn’t always a Dodgers fan.
I’m from Connecticut, so I’m more so like my whole life congregated to like East Coast sports teams. So it wasn’t like technically a Dodgers fan. like, I don’t care where I’m from. This is L.A. I live here, so I got to support them.
And she says it was exciting being at the stadium for the huge win but it was also bittersweet.
When you win a World Series, there’s fireworks ready is confetti, like, you know, people are like rushing the stands. Like, I just miss that atmosphere. Being able to, you know, like, hug the random person next to you who you were talking to during the game, that you just met or. Just the feeling. But I think it’s definitely something great for L.A. in addition to winning the NBA finals. It’s cool to be a part of, you know, a year where and go to school here when there’s two like championship teams in the same. Like three week span.
So great — that Placey says she might go back to Dodger stadium this weekend.
OK. That’s a little more enticing to me now. Just so not even maybe not even to buy merch. But to just go in there.
Cause a world series win doesn’t come around that often.
So I got to say on that… Go, Dodgers.
The Left Field Plaza store will be open daily while the stadium is being used as a voting center.
