Medical residents protest after sheriff’s deputies shoot patient inside Harbor-UCLA hospital

De-escalation practices are vital to the principle of doing no harm, say organizers with the Committee of Interns and Residents

The union that represents resident physicians at teaching hospitals in L.A. County organized the Protect Our Patients march to call for reforms after a sheriff’s deputy shot a patient inside Harbor-UCLA hospital last week. The group wants guns out of hospitals and an independent investigation of the incident, changes they say are necessary to build back trust in the community.
