The Los Angeles Lakers won the 2019-2020 NBA Championship in a 106-93 blowout win against the Miami Heat.
The Lakers kicked off Game 6 with undeniable champion energy. They proved their dominance early, leading by 28 points at the half — the second-highest halftime lead in NBA Finals history.
The Lakers not only proved their power but emphasized their team mentality in Sunday’s game.
LeBron James led the Lakers with 28 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists. His performance in the finals earned him NBA Finals MVP for the fourth time in his career.
Despite playing on an injured heel, Anthony Davis continued to be a leader for the Lakers with 19 points. Rajon Rondo added 19 off the bench to tie Davis for second-most points for L.A. in the night. Alex Caruso started for Dwight Howard for his first start of his postseason career, likely due to his successful performances throughout the season.
Bam Adebayo scored 25 points for the Heat, but it wasn’t enough to force a Game 7. Miami never led.
It’s the first time the Lakers have won the NBA Finals since 2010, when led by the late Lakers legend, Kobe Bryant. The team’s owner and president Jeanie Buss paid tribute to Bryant and his daughter Gianna Bryant for serving as an inspiration to the team. James joined in honoring Bryant when accepting his award.
“For Kobe.”
