Tuesday night’s first presidential debate was certainly no easy watch, with President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden shouting over each other throughout the entire evening. But to any astrology-lover, the tense nature of this debate between two opposing signs comes as no surprise.
The two candidates' opposing views have manifested in extremes, including name-calling and unfair personal gossip, but considering that Trump is a Gemini and Biden is a Scorpio, their lack of compatibility makes sense. I decided to turn to Co-Star, one of the leading astrological apps on the market, to figure out Trump and Biden’s astrological compatibility and the nature of the Gemini-Scorpio relationship.
In the world of astrology, being a Gemini is an immediate social deal-breaker. Born between May 22 and June 22, Geminis are known to be a bit two-faced out of all of the air signs, symbolized by the Twins, Castor, and Pollux of Greek and Roman mythology.
Trump, born on June 14, 1946, shows clear traits of prototypical Geminis. His Co-Star reading recognizes the “gossipy or flaky” nature of Gemini suns. Upon sowing doubts to his voters about the election outcome, Trump, in true gossipy-Gemini fashion, said, “This is not going to end well… This is going to be a fraud like you’ve never seen,” despite reports that show extremely rare instances of fraud associated with a vote-by-mail system.

Another Gemini quality is that they love to talk — in fact, “the act of expression is often even more important to loquacious Gemini than what is actually being said.” Trump showed he had no filter during the debate.
In response to Biden’s dismissal of his leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, Trump said “There’s nothing smart about you, Joe.”
However, it would be unfair to discredit Geminis completely – Geminis are ‘people persons’ after all. They know how to host parties and please people, which can explain Trump’s former success as a business mogul and reality TV show star on The Apprentice.
Biden, on the other hand, handled the night like a true Scorpio: emotional and intense. Born on November 20, 1942, Biden perpetuated Scorpios' reputation as the “big, bad, elder sisters of the water crew.” Symbolized by the scorpion, Biden, like other Scorpios, wasn’t afraid to sting back when he felt wronged by Trump during the debate.

Starting the debate with “How you doing, man?” and minutes later calling the President a “clown,” “liar,” and “racist,” it’s clear that the former Vice President went into the debate with good intentions, but quickly felt the need to lash back at Trump’s claims against him. When Trump kept talking over him, he plainly stated: “Will you shut up, man?” Like a true Scorpio, Biden was not afraid to show Trump the venomous side of his personality.
This was not all that Biden unleashed on Trump for the night. “You should get out of your bunker and get out of the sand trap and ... the golf course,” Biden said about Trump’s handling of COVID-19, “and go in the Oval Office and (put) together Democrats and Republicans, and fund what needs to be done now to save lives.”
But Scorpios aren’t all vicious — they are also known for their passion and strength, especially during difficult times. This seems fitting of Biden’s personality, whose resilience and dedication to American politics shines brighter now than ever before in his third campaign for the presidency.
The rigid tension between Trump and Biden seen during the debate comes with no surprise. According to Astrology Zodiac Signs, there is generally low compatibility between a Gemini and a Scorpio. The element of trust in the relationship ranks at a measly one percent.
“Scorpios trust everyone until they don’t,” the website reads. “They have this weird, possessive nature that can give ultimate trust to their partner until the first worm of suspicion is created, usually by flakiness and disrespect.” Judging by Trump’s repeated interruptions and attacks targeting his son, it is evident Biden’s trust as a Scorpio has turned for the worst.
When it comes to dealing with Geminis like Trump, the website states that Scorpios like Biden cannot “expect such a definite honesty out of a Gemini partner when they are so prone to change and have no idea what they will feel or do tomorrow.” This rings true for Trump, who has shown to contradict himself in the past.
“How can [Geminis] be honest when [they] don’t know what [their] truth is in the first place?” the website concludes, a perfect metaphor for Trump’s repeated mantra toward Biden throughout the night: “That’s a lie.”
Distrust between the candidates was evident throughout the debate. “What [Trump] keeps trying to do is rile everything up,” Biden said. “He doesn’t want to calm things down... He just pours gasoline on the fire constantly.”
So what can we anticipate for next week’s debate between current Vice President Mike Pence and Biden’s pick for Vice President, Kamala Harris?
As surprising as it sounds, Harris is a Libra and Pence is a Gemini, meaning they may have an unlikely acquaintanceship. The Libra-Gemini relationship trust compatibility comes in at 80%, a 79% upgrade from the Gemini-Scorpio dynamic.
“Libra has no reason to doubt their own judgment and will probably believe their Gemini in every case, except when their dishonesty is too obvious,” the website reveals.
So who knows? Maybe next week’s debate will be, at the very least, watchable.
