Las Vegas is a global tourist spot known for gambling, entertainment and lavish hotels. But most visitors are unaware that there’s much more to the city. It has a rich history that dates back to the 19th century. Over the past century, Las Vegas has evolved from a dusty railroad town into the bustling and vibrant city it is today. Historians Lynn Zook, author of “Gambling on a Dream: The Classic Las Vegas Strip” and Geoff Schumacher, author of “Sun, Sin & Suburbia: An Essential History of Modern Las Vegas,” share details on Las Vegas’s history and why they think it gives us a greater appreciation for the city.
