Rance’s Pizza co-owner Aaron Tofani is suing USC for allegedly not honoring their contract with the pizza shop.

“Many or most of those promises or assurances, or the guidance that we were provided, we discovered to be untrue,” said Tofani.

Tofani says he agreed to pay an expensive rent because he was told students could use their USC cards to buy from restaurants in the village.

“Part of that discussion was an assurance that because you’re in the Village, because you’re part of campus the Village is part of campus, you will be able to receive the USC cards,” said Tofani.

But he soon realized, not only were students not allowed to use their cards, but students living in the village had mandatory meal plans for the dining hall.

“In that deal they snuck in a paragraph that says by signing this you’re waiving all rights to claim against USC for any wrongdoing you know of now or anything you might find out about in the future,” Tofani elaborated.

He also alleged that USC charged them 50% more than they had agreed on for common area maintenance. He said the school was not true to their word when it came to planning as well.

“USC said they had a marketing team, but did not have one until two years after project opened,” said Tofani.

USC’s response to the allegations is as follows:

“The university believes the allegations that Rance’s and BBCM have made in their lawsuit are inaccurate, and we will vigorously defend against them in court.”
