Four USC artists performed at the Shrine Auditorium Thursday as part of the CAMPVS Live Showcase of Find Your Grind U Fest.
The students were selected from a pool of thirteen to each perform a short set through a three-day-long voting process held by CAMPVS Live Showcase. USC artists Aryan Kapoor, Guspy, Parí and Yasin were invited to perform. The winners received over 5,000 combined votes in a three-day span, with rapper Aryan Kapoor leading the pack with over 2,800 votes.
“I only began seriously pursuing music when I came to USC as a freshman last fall, so the feeling is definitely surreal, but it feels in place,” Yasin wrote to Annenberg Media. “Even though it’s not huge, it really does feel like a dream come true.”
FYG U Fest is a Big Noise Live and Amazon Prime Student sponsored event that traveled across seven college campuses nationwide.
“Building on our successful Spring 2019 festival run at multiple universities, we are stoked to continue presenting cutting-edge performing artists, interactive experiences, and exciting brands to college students,” said Brian Rucker, Senior Vice President of Big Noise Live.
The final stop at USC featured live esports tournaments, technology simulators, industry career panels, and performances from local college artists and performances mainstream artists like Lil Tecca, Madeintyo, Wale and Playboi Carti.
“I look forward to moshing and forgetting about my academic responsibilities,” said Brian Price, a USC sophomore who planned on attending.
The CAMPVS Live Showcase kicks off when FYG U Fest opened its doors at 4 p.m. All USC students received free admission, and Amazon Prime Student members received exclusive offers like VIP main stage viewing and access to the Prime Student lounge.
