California governor signs new bill to pay student athletes

The new law allows student athletes to take endorsement deals from some of the biggest companies.

Over the weekend, in a clip from an unreleased episode of NBA superstar LeBron James’ HBO show, Governor Gavin Newsom announced that he signed a new bill that will require California student athletes to be compensated for the use of their name, image and likeness starting in 2023.
