A USC student who was accused of sexual assault faces a university sanctioning hearing this Friday

L.A. County prosecutors dismissed the criminal case against Armaan Premjee last July. The university continued its own investigation.

USC student Armaan Premjee, who was arrested last April and charged with the sexual assault of another USC student, is scheduled to have a university sanctioning hearing on Friday.

Last July, prosecutors dropped charges against Premjee after a Los Angeles Superior Court judge determined that there wasn't enough evidence to move the case to trial.

The USC Title IX office continued its independent investigation. Friday's hearing is a result of that investigation.

USC said in a statement that it "stands by its student disciplinary processes that were conducted in compliance with state and federal regulations. … USC's investigation of a Title IX issue is required by the federal government and must be independently conducted to its conclusion even when there is a parallel criminal process."

We have reached out to the university to find out what the Title IX office has charged Premjee with, however, the university says student disciplinary records are confidential by law.

Premjee has continued to attend classes at USC this academic year.

Premjee sent USC Annenberg Media an email he said he also sent to USC President C. L. Max Nikias asking for Nikias' intervention in this case. Premjee believes that he is innocent and is being treated unfairly by the Title IX office.

USC's Title IX office did not return our calls Wednesday evening.

We will keep you updated as we learn more.
