Photographer Recounts First Night of the '92 LA Uprising

In this sound portrait, Torres walks us through the first night of rioting against a backdrop of audio from the exhibit that was recorded during the uprising.

The end of April marks the 25th anniversary of the L.A. Uprising that tore through South Central. There was six days of violence after a court ruled four police officers were not guilty in the beating of Rodney King.

The Community Coalition is hosting an art exhibit called Re-imagine Justice.

Abraham Torres is a photographer featured in the exhibit. His work is some of the only on-site reporting done on April 29, 1992. In this sound portrait, Torres walks us through the first night of rioting against a backdrop of audio from the exhibit that was recorded during the uprising.
