USC has suspended senior defensive end Jabari Ruffin from all team activities due to a student conduct issue, Clay Helton announced Sunday after the team's practice.
Helton said he was unable to explain further any details of the suspension, but he did say there was no timetable for Ruffin's return.
"I don't have a crystal ball on when, or if, he will return to the team," Helton said.
Ruffin is primarily a backup who has played in six games and recorded two tackles. In the loss to Alabama, Ruffin was ejected from the game after stomping on an opposing defensive player during a play.
He was suspended for the first half of the next game against Utah State. Ruffin was also instructed to write an apology letter to the opposing player.
He also no longer appears on the team roster on the USC Athletics website.
Two other USC players, linebackers Osa Masina and Don Hill, have already been suspended indefinitely from the team this season due to student conduct issues.
