For many struggling with substance abuse, building a community at a treatment center helps them on the road to recovery. But the coronavirus has forced Los Angeles County to issue new guidelines to alcohol and drug treatment providers that include reducing community interaction. That’s pushed treatment centers, like The Beacon House and The Haven (which provides support to college students across the country, including at USC), to find new ways to maintain a sense of community.
