The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended the public to start wearing face coverings to slow the spread of COVID-19 last week. Several California counties have implemented policies punishing residents not wearing face coverings with fines or even jail time.

But face coverings are difficult to find. According to an LA Times article, retailers like Lowes and Home Depot have stopped selling face masks and a gas station in Bonita started selling $2 masks for $10 each.
