Macy’s store closings bring about questions for the future of brick and mortars

The large retail chain’s announcement follows a long string of retail companies closing their stores.

As part of a three-year savings plan, Macy’s announced Tuesday it would be tightening up their teams and closing down stores to lower costs and bring teams closer together. The store closings come after 2019, the biggest year for store closings to date. Over 9,300 stores closed throughout the 12 months, including companies Forever 21 and Gap. Annenberg Media asks a USC professor about the future for physical stores in a digital world.
