LA County gas prices hit an almost five-year record high today, with regular gasoline costing an average of $4.24 a gallon. The prices have been consistently increasing for the last 17 days. The high prices are primarily due to unplanned maintenance issues at LA County refineries, according to Denton Cinquegrana, Chief Oil Analyst at the Oil Price Information Service. He said he expects the prices to come down in the next week or two.
