Shocking numbers of LA’s homeless died in the cold last year

Since the county's 39,000 homeless people mainly live outdoors, they are much more vulnerable to sudden drops in temperature and other severe problems.

Despite Southern California's reputation as a sunny place with mild temperatures, it turns out that more homeless people died as a result of cold temperatures in Los Angeles County than other colder places, like San Francisco and New York City. Experts say that it's because of the desert climate here and the overall number of homeless people.
