A research study on Native American with diabetes was announced at the L.A. County Indigenous Peoples Day celebration
Diabetes in the Native American population is a public health crisis. Runningbear Ramirez, a well-respected philanthropist, began the vision to help Native Americans with diabetes by educating and providing medically tailored food. The meals will be provided by Project Angel Food two meals a day for three months. Dr. Claradina Soto heads the research and is assisted by Dr. Andrea Garcia. The efforts of the research leader are to improve health as well as expand the resources to other Native American communities.
