Outside the Pocket: USC is down but not out

For exactly one week, Trojan Nation was riding high. Fans hopped onto the Kedon Slovis bandwagon, ready to ride it all the way to a national championship. But they got way ahead of themselves. Slovis isn’t the second coming of Jesus Christ sent to save USC football, like many thought.

USC upset by BYU in overtime thriller

Freshman quarterback Kedon Slovis dropped back in the pocket — a third-and-six play on USC’s first overtime drive following BYU’s opening three-point drive. The pass came out into double coverage, was batted into the air and nabbed by a Cougar. BYU fans jumped the bleachers and stormed the field to celebrate with their team that just upset No. 24 USC 30-27 in overtime.

Outside the Pocket: Kedon Slovis will save USC’s season

USC has a new hero and his name is Kedon Slovis. I will be the first to admit that I was worried about USC going into its game on Saturday. A true freshman quarterback — who has never started in a collegiate game — starting against No. 23 Stanford is not a bet I would take. But at the same time, I wasn’t going to bet against Slovis.

Lynn Swann resigns as athletic director

USC president Carol Folt announced Monday that Lynn Swann has resigned from his position as athletic director effective immediately.

Slovis leads Trojans to rout Stanford in first start

At the end of USC’s 45-20 rout over the No. 23 Stanford Cardinal, freshman quarterback Kedon Slovis stood atop the drum major stand hoisting the Trojan sword surrounded by the Trojan faithfuls welcoming him as their new quarterback.

USC hangs on to lead as Slovis makes debut

Nothing good happens when it’s #Pac-12AfterDark; the Trojans knew that all too well tonight. Although USC bested Fresno State 31-23 Saturday night, the win pales in comparison to the devastating loss of sophomore quarterback JT Daniels. Daniels exited the game late in the first half after sustaining an apparent knee injury.
