SXSW was the first festival to fall, cancelling its original festival date of March 13 due to the threat of coronavirus, or COVID-19. Now Coachella and Stagecoach have joined the ranks postponing the beloved festivals until October with hopes that the virus will be contained by that time.
Goldenvoice, the company that puts on Coachella, released a statement Tuesday afternoon confirming the rumors about the possible postponement . “At the direction of the County of Riverside and local health authorities, we must sadly confirm the rescheduling of Coachella and Stagecoach due to COVID-19 concerns...Coachella will now take place on Oct. 9-11 and Oct 16-18. Stagecoach will take place Oct 23-25.”
