37 People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (or PETA) supporters gathered in Downtown LA in front of District Attorney Jackie Lacey’s office to protest the 37 deaths of horses at Santa Anita Park. “DA Lacey, Do Your Job: Prosecute Cruelty At the Track” and “Suspend Trainers When Horses Die," were some of the signs held by activists at the demonstration. At 12:15 PM, members wearing horse masks and holding signs with the name and age of a specific horse that has died at Santa Anita Park, ‘dropped dead’ on the steps of the Hall of Justice. They executed this demonstration to urge DA Lacey to release the findings of the investigation into the deaths — an investigation that began seven months ago.
