After its long hiatus from Los Angeles, the Michelin guide returns to the area to rate local restaurants for a statewide guide in partnership with the Visit California.

Michelin's departure from the city came with allegations from the guide's then-director Jean-Luc Naret that Angelinos are "not real foodies," and a scathing review of the guide as "ignorant" of the unique food scene of LA from the late food critic Jonathan Gold. As Michelin returns, many, while excited, wonder if the guide will fully appreciate the diverse food scene of LA, with or without the white tablecloth.
