…And two more are gone. Redshirt sophomore wide receiver Velus Jones Jr. and redshirt freshman safety Gregg Johnson entered the NCAA Transfer Portal today, according to 247Sports.

Jones was a two-way player, appearing on both offense and special teams as a kick and punt returner. In 2018, Jones appeared in 11 games, catching 24 passes for 266 yards with one touchdown. He also had one rushing touchdown. In the same number of games, he had 483 return yards, with a long of 37 yards. Without Jones, USC returns three starting receivers in Michael Pittman Jr., Amon-Ra St. Brown and Tyler Vaughns.
Johnson had limited action in 2018. The safety appeared in 10 games, notching three broken up passes, 15 tackles and a fumble recovery. Johnson, a four-star at the time, was recruited by Tee Martin and Ronnie Bradford, both of which were fired following the end of the 2018 season.
The pair are the ninth and 10th student-athletes from USC to enter the transfer portal this year. Beginning in October 2018, NCAA student-athletes were allowed to enter their names into a transfer portal which in turn gives schools permission to contact them. It is important to note that not every transfer is successful, and athletes remain enrolled at their current school until otherwise noted.
USC begins spring practice on Tuesday, March 5.
