The USC women’s volleyball team is off to an impressive start with a 5-1 overall record. They swept the Trojan Invitational at the end of August to open the season.  This weekend they had a top-five win against then No. 4 Florida, now ranked No. 8 following the loss, but suffered an upset against unranked UCF at the Bubly Invitational in Gainesville, Florida.
Following the win, USC’s freshman setter, Raquel Lázaro from Córdoba, Spain was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week for the second week in a row.
During the Bubly Invitational, she recorded 121 assists (11.00 aps), picked up 26 digs (2.36 dps), had seven blocks (0.64 bps), and served six aces (0.55 saps),  according to a release by USC Athletics.

Looking ahead:

The Women of Troy are currently ranked No. 10  in the nation and will face No. 3 BYU (5-0), and No. 25 Marquette (5-1) on Friday, along with unranked Syracuse (2-0) on Saturday at the Marquette Invitational in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The games will continue the team 's tough non-conference schedule. This will be USC's third consecutive tournament where it will be facing a  top-five ranked opponent. USC has a good history in the state of Wisconsin, being 6-1 all-time in matches played in the state.

Following the Marquette Invitational, The team faces Louisiana and San Diego in the SDSU/USD Challenge in San Diego on September 14th. The Women of Troy will begin conference play on September 19th at the Galen Center against the UCLA Bruins.
