Terry George, director of the 2016 film "The Promise" and "Hotel Rwanda" (2004), will take part in a conversation about genocide in film at the University of California Los Angeles's Billy Wilder Theater on April 6.

The director will join "The Promise" producer Eric Esrailian and Stephen D. Smith, director of the University of Southern California's Shoah Foundation, to discuss the politics and other challenges faced by such serious, humanitarian topics in film. The discussion will be moderated by journalist and award-winning filmmaker Carla Garapedian.

On a lighter note among the release of "The Promise," UCLA's theater will also host musical performances in honor of the Armenian genocide by the UCLA Armenian Music Ensemble. Music will include works by composers Romanos Melikian, and Edward Mirzoian, and will premiere Kristapor Najarian's "Rhapsodic Fantasy."
