Too busy to vote? That's no excuse for USC employees, including student workers.
All USC employees are eligible to take at least two hours off without loss of pay, under the California Elections Code. This applies to faculty, staff and those claiming student status.
According to the code, a voter is eligible for paid voting time when a voter does not have "sufficient time outside of working hours to vote at a statewide election" and the employee must give notice to their employer at least two work days prior to the election to receive paid voting time off.
Classes are still in session on Election Day, so students and faculty also have the option to vote by mail. The last day to request a Vote-by-Mail ballot is Tuesday Nov. 1. The ballot itself must be postmarked no later than Nov. 8.
You can check your eligibility to vote by mail using through the LA County Registrar's Office here.
