It's that time of year again: FESTIVAL SEASON! As Coachella approaches next weekend, it's time to start planning out your boho-chic outfits! Whether you've never been to Coachella or you're an avid veteran who's never missed a year, check out our list of Coachella essentials that will have you turning heads like never before.
Coachella isn't just about dressing up like the bohemian princess that you wish you were in a past life, it's about the music as well! So if you want to get down and dirty in the middle of the mosh pit, you gotta plan your outfits accordingly so you can move n' groove to eargasmic tunes from sunrise to sunset while still looking fab. Here are the items every festival-goer shouldn't leave the house without.
It will be sunny, and that's a fact. The chances of it raining during Coachella is so slim that I'd swear on my mother's grave that it won't happen…this IS California, people! Plan for the sun to be beating down on your bare skin for the entire day and pack your sunnies. The last thing you want to be worrying about is if you can see the performer because you're squinting your eyes. If you lose things easily, pack two pairs!
Bandeau tops / Bras
If you're trying to balance a cute, yet strategic look, try out a bandeau top or a crochet bra. You don't have to worry about any excess fabric when you're dancing around; you can just let loose and be present in the moment. At night if you get cold, throw on a kimono and you're set for the night.
Kimonos are one of the most underrated pieces of clothing. They are a simple fashion statement that will keep you warm at night without taking up too much space in your bag during the day. Check out vintage stores and local LA flea markets for unique, one-of-a-kind designs to prevent every girl's nightmare of showing up in the same outfit as someone else.
Backpacks, not fanny packs, ladies. While fanny-packs might be great for parties, you're not just spending a few hours at Coachella, you're there the entire day, and trust me, you'll never want to leave! While a large school backpack would be annoying to lug around and a fanny pack doesn't provide you with enough room to pack all of your essentials, small backpacks are the best option.
High Waisted Shorts
Although flowy printed pants may seem like a cute option for Coachella while browsing through Urban Outfitters, just remember, the festival is in the desert, which means it's going to be hot, so it's better to stick with shorts. If you want to venture outside of simple denim, rock a pair of patterned shorts or mesmerizing dark blue corduroys.
