The "Gilmore Girls" 15th anniversary is here. On Oct. 5, 2000 the world got its first taste of the mom and daughter power duo. This first episode would eventually morph into six seasons of Stars Hollow greatness. As any fan of a television show, we can't help but get nostalgic about all the great times. So, read this list and see all of the ways you've been "Gilmored."
You can never talk too fast.
It's everyone else's job to catch up. I mean, you've had three cups of coffee; there are more important things than oxygen.
No day is complete without coffee.
Coffee makes everything better. It helps you face the morning, manage overbearing mothers, and tolerate mayors with sticks up their butts. Three cups? Five cups? No problem — that's your awesomeness fuel.
Things are more fun when they're traditions.
Whether it's a birthday story every year, running outside for the first snowfall, or a Friday Night Dinner: everything is better when you get to do it on the reg.
Sometimes older does not mean better.
Like when all of the Stars Hollow street names got changed back to their originals…and the Dragonfly was on Sores and Boils Abbey. Yeah. Not great.
School is really important.
Who better to makes us study hard than Rory Gilmore? Chilton private high school, Yale University; she was the perfect, try-hard student. Every second I didn't spend joining study groups and making flash cards, I felt like a disappointment to her.
You don't always have to know what you want right away.
Do you remember how many men Rory and Lorelai dated? The answer's a lot. And some guys they dated more than once (Dean, Chris, Luke, etc.). What these two girls taught us is that it's okay to shop around the dating pool, and figure out what you do and don't like. And just because something doesn't work out at first, doesn't mean that it never can.
Everyone needs their own catchphrase.
Treat yo self.
Whether it's Chinese food, pizza, ice cream, or cake — there is ALWAYS a good reason to indulge. Always.
You should appreciate art in all it's forms.
A guitarist troubador? An opportunity to become live paintings? Dig in! It's always important to culture yourself. And remember, don't think about that itch on your nose.
Always have a witty comeback at the ready.
At any age or level of Gilmorism, a good witty one-liner just can't be beat.
There is always a Paris.
You're no doubt going to encounter that one person who stinks at being social, worries too much, studies nonstop, has no filter, and is difficult in a myriad of ways. But, that person will also be there for you no matter what.
College is hard.
Finals, lack of sleep (sanity), countless club meetings and you have to make friends? Being a student is crazy.
Mom sleepovers are the best sleepovers. Period.
When life gets to be too much, your mom will always be there for a snuggle and a comforting pep talk. It doesn't matter if you're in high school, college, or even a full-fledged "adult." Moms will drive six hours in the middle of the night just to make you feel better.
It's never too late to mend a relationship.
Look at Lorelai and Emily. They didn't even speak for years, went through countless ups and downs; but at the end of the day (and the series) Lorelai still promised to attend Friday Night Dinner, and the mother and daughter prove that they still love each other.
Your family is bigger than you think.
All the people you grew up with genuinely care about you, and want to see you happy. They'll always go the extra mile for you. "'Cuz all you have to do is call my name and I'll be there, on the next train."
